I was born and now live in Plymouth (UK), a city south west of Dartmoor and about a ten-minute drive onto the moors. Dartmoor National Park has been a big constant in my life and I love the variety of terrain, the things to see and the peaceful feeling of being miles away from modern life. Three years working for the tourist association on the moor brought home to me what a wonderful variety of landscape and history there is - I've still much to discover!
I have also worked for a well-known tour operator as a travel rep in Austria for two years and I was lucky enough to also be a walking guide, so took groups of people out on two or three walks a week during the summer seasons. This, I hope, have given me the experience to find Dartmoor walks that not only provide great views, but also will also inform about some of the legends and heritage of the moor.
Aside from that I worked for local newspapers for nearly 15 years, write mysteries and create adult colouring books (on Amazon). I also enjoy photography.
Happy walking!

DISCLAIMER: The route descriptions should be used in conjunction with an OS map, and sometimes a compass. I also try to give alternatives of a longer or shorter walk where possible.
While the route descriptions were accurate at the time of writing, things change, sometimes fences and footpaths get moved, or bad visibility may impair visibility of landmarks. A path or track can also vary from being man made to animal made, and most are not signposted.
To the best of my knowledge the routes are entirely on public rights of way or within areas that are open for public access.
These route descriptions are meant for guidance and not a definitive guide. Dartmoor is a changeable landscape so always take a map, suitable clothing and common sense with you when walking!
